There are many reasons the lymphatic system can become congested and slow, but one of the primary reasons is because it doesen’t have a natural pump to help with its circulation.
It relies on muscle contraction and in fluid pressure. Since our lifestyles have become more sedentary and we tend to be dehydrated, lymph flow gradually becomes affected. Tight, dehydrated and restricted fascia can also block lymphatic flow. A large portion of the lymphatic system is located in the superficial fascia. If the fascia is dehydrated and dense, it will block proper lymphatic flow. This is why we occasionally add some fascial release techniques is our treatments
Of course, there are many other causes of congested lymphatic systems such as Chronic disease, medications, kidney or liver issues, scarring around primary lymph nodes, cancers, and many more. If Detox Lymphatic massage cannot safely treat these causes, you may be referred to another practitioner for more advanced lymphatic drainage.
